MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Oklahoma
City missed multiple chances and Memphis capatilized on its chances Saturday
night. The RedHawks went 1 for 13 with runners in scoring position. The
Redbirds, though, got a grand slam from shortstop Ryan Jackson in the second inning
that propelled them to a 6-2 victory in front of 8,690 at AutoZone Park.
Advertisement Jackson's homer put Memphis (39-61) up 5-0 and came after both
Bryan Anderson and Nick Additon singled. Anderson had been 3 for 38 this season
against Oklahoma City and Additon had been hitless on the season. But Oklahoma
City (58-42) had plenty of chances the rest of the way. The RedHawks had
runners on second and third with no outs in the third, but failed to score.
Travis Buck also doubled to open the fourth, but did not advance past second.
Buck later added an RBI double in the eighth and Jimmy Paredes opened the OKC
scoring with a solo homer in the fifth. In fact, Bick and Paredes provided six
of the nine OKC hits. Buck went 3 for 4 with a pair of doubles and Paredes went
3 for 5, falling a triple shy of the cycle. Jess Todd (2-1) earned the win for
Memphis. He allowed one run and two hits over 2 1/3 innings. Additon made the
start but did not make it past the fourth inning. Sergio Perez, making a spot
start for the RedHawks, surrendered five runs and four hits over three innings.
The RedHawks and Redbirds continue their series Sunday at 6:05 p.m.

Byng basketball coach Bertha Frank Teague was the only woman honored with induction.
Teague was inducted in 1970. Sunday night at the Southern Hills Marriott in
Tulsa, Clay became the second as the 2012 class was inducted.
